About The Position

The Primary Role of a Substitute Teacher is to assume classroom and other assigned duties in the absence of the regular teacher. This role requires maintaining confidentiality, ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment, and following provided lesson plans. The substitute teacher will also be responsible for taking accurate student attendance and performing other duties as instructed by an administrator during non-teaching time, excluding the scheduled lunch period. A note with necessary information should be left for the returning teacher.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of college (60 semester hours) or Associate’s Degree
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Friendly and able to interact professionally and positively with staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Basic computer skills including email, internet use, keyboarding, Excel, Word
  • Ability to follow multi-step directions

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred
  • Previous school/classroom experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information
  • Sign in and out daily in the main office
  • Use the timesheet within Frontline for monthly payment
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and an orderly classroom
  • Follow the provided lesson plans
  • Take accurate student attendance
  • Perform other duties during non-teaching time as instructed by an administrator or administrative assistant other than during the scheduled lunch period
  • Leave a note with any necessary information for the teacher when he/she returns to the classroom
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor/administrator
