Substitute Teachers for Early Childhood Program
About The Position
Maayan Torah Day School is seeking caring, creative, and dependable substitute teachers for its early childhood program, which serves children from infancy through age 5. Substitutes help cover planned absences and unexpected illnesses. Opportunities may arise in advance or with little notice, so flexibility is important. The school works with each substitute to find an arrangement that may include on-call opportunities, shifts scheduled in advance, or a combination of both. Substitute work may offer experience and the possibility of growing into a permanent role. Applicants should be comfortable working in a faith-based Jewish school environment and supporting the school's mission and values; being Jewish is not required. The regular school schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:20 AM–3:30 PM, and Friday, 8:20 AM–2:30 PM. Extended care is available from 7:30 AM–8:20 AM and after school Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM–5:30 PM, and Friday from 2:30 PM–4:30 PM. Substitute shifts vary according to classroom and program needs.
Requirements
- Enrollment in the Oregon Criminal History Registry upon hire.
- Food Handler's Card upon hire.
- Infant/Toddler CPR and First Aid Certification upon hire; in-person training is required.
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect upon hire.
- Introduction to Health and Safety upon hire.
- Safe Sleep for Infants and Toddlers upon hire.
- Prevention Is Better Than Treatment upon hire.
- Foundations for Learning upon hire.
- Comfort working in a faith-based school environment and supporting the school's mission and values.
