Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a genuine interest and concern for young children.
Must work at least 4 full shifts per month.
At least 18 years old.
Initial Health Exam required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
Initial and annual TB screening are required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employee's expense.

Nice To Haves

Willingness to obtain CDA in the appropriate age group.
6 months experience in an early education or child development center setting.
Able to communicate in both Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

Develops a positive and productive relationship with all parents by communicating with parents in a positive manner on an ongoing basis.
Develops a positive and productive relationship with the Classroom Teacher, Center Director and all other staff by communicating frequently and using positive feedback as much as possible.
Acts as a positive role model for children, families, staff, and volunteers.
Follows safety guidelines when lifting equipment and picking up children, upkeep, and age appropriateness of all equipment which children use.
Cooperates and works as a team in the workplace by assisting others on a daily basis.
Participates in workshops, in-service training and makes use of all professional growth opportunities.
Reports to Person in Charge in absence of Center Director.
Assists teachers with the implementation of the behavior management plan
Reports all suspected child abuse to the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 and in accordance with agency policy.
Arrives on time and works designated hours (unless otherwise specified by immediate supervisor).
Flexibility with work schedule and location as needed based on program needs.
Provide appropriate care for children including following appropriate diapering/toileting procedures, and maintaining a sanitized classroom, such as; hand washing, change of bedding, and sanitation of toys, equipment, and surfaces.
Assist with recruitment of parents and staff.
Submits time sheets accurately and on time to supervisor.
Submits mileage accurately and on time to supervisor.
Attends all staff and other meetings as assigned.
Manages time effectively.
Is a positive role model.
Maintains confidentiality: records, client services, and staff.
Adheres to Agency’s best practices related to time and leave.
Dress is appropriate to work environment.
Maintains a safe, orderly and clean environment.
All other duties as assigned.
