About The Position

Kokua is seeking passionate individuals to become substitute teachers in Garland, TX, for the 2025-26 school year. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, help address the teacher shortage, and provide students with positive role models. The position offers a flexible schedule, allowing for up to 5 days per week, and the ability to choose assignments and locations that best suit your preferences. You will be responsible for leading classrooms, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and assisting with various school day duties such as lunch/recess supervision, hall monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing.

Requirements

• 1+ year(s) working with students in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, camps, etc.)
• Minimum of 48 college credit hours
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world
• Ability to pass state & federal background checks
