This role involves assisting in the education and daily program of a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom, implementing and coordinating all Head Start or Early Head Start functions, and identifying, reporting, and providing supportive services in child abuse/neglect cases. The position requires ensuring all children receive individual attention and that educational experiences instill a good self-image and develop language arts skills, including multicultural elements. The substitute teacher will also be responsible for classroom safety, utilizing volunteer help, assisting with child assessments and screenings, accompanying children on field trips, assisting with meal service, and reporting illnesses, accidents, or absences. Attending workshops and maintaining mandated training hours are also key aspects of the role.
