About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by sparking a love for learning in students and helping to address the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers will have a flexible schedule, up to 5 days a week, and the autonomy to choose assignments and locations. The position involves leading classrooms, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and assisting with various campus duties such as lunch/recess supervision, hall monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Kokua provides weekly paychecks, a quick hiring process, and a supportive community. This role can also serve as a stepping stone for full-time positions in K-12 schools.

Requirements

• 1+ year(s) working with students in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, camps, etc.).
• Minimum of 48 college credit hours.
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.
• Ability to pass state & federal background checks.
