About The Position

The Substitute Teacher supports and advances the mission of FCS by filling in for absent teachers and assisting in various roles as directed by the Principal. The Substitute Teacher reports to the building Principal. Responsibilities of the Substitute Teacher include arriving on time to prepare for the day and assuming the teacher’s assigned responsibilities, following the lesson plan as closely as possible and maintaining an orderly environment, fulfilling duties including taking attendance and communicating with the teacher regarding work accomplished, student behavior and any other pertinent information, and reporting hours worked in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

• Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in Prayer and Share devotional times and other spiritual development)
• Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school’s mission
• Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
• Commitment to a biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
• If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
• Strong commitment to Christian education
• Ability to manage a class and relate well with students
• Teachable, servant spirit

Nice To Haves

• College degree and teaching experience preferred, but not required
