Substitute Teacher Opportunity PRN/As Needed. Rivendell Behavioral Health Services of Arkansas is looking for a Teacher for our acute child/adolescent patients. Under the general supervision of the Director of Education, this position exists to provide direct instruction and other educational services to hospitalized children and adolescents in order to help them maintain or improve their academic performance levels/standing and help them make a smooth post-discharge transition back into their home school setting. Requirements

  • Must be able to work within a team, taking direction from Lead Education staff and Clinical Services Director.
  • Effective verbal and written skills needed
  • General knowledge of state and federal laws governing Special Education—Approved School Programs.
  • Must be able to understand and respond to complex written and oral instructions.
  • Must possess skills necessary to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergency situations.
  • HS Diploma required

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Special Education certification and teacher's license.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification. (offered at facility)
  • Current Handle with Care training. (offered at facility)
  • Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5-65yrs+.
  • Preferred classroom experience.
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

  • provide direct instruction and other educational services to hospitalized children and adolescents in order to help them maintain or improve their academic performance levels/standing
  • help them make a smooth post-discharge transition back into their home school setting
  • maintain contact with patient’s home school counselors and other school district personnel throughout the patient’s hospitalization, as well as post discharge.
