About The Position

Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and Center Director, the Substitute Teacher will be responsible for working within the framework of Harbor Child Care, carrying out its functions, educational philosophy, policies, and procedures. This role involves planning and executing a classroom program that addresses the educational, social development, and health needs of both the group and individual children. The position requires the ability to lift and carry children and be physically fit to actively participate in age-appropriate activities.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma
Must have experience working with infants ages 3 months to 5 years old.

Responsibilities

Assists in developing a program of developmentally appropriate practices.
Upholds Harbor’s philosophy and policies, including health & safety, nutrition, and regulations.
Actively implements age-appropriate The Creative Curriculum.
Supports children during transition time.
Responsible for supervision of children.
Supports and actively participates in active work and outdoor time.
Works with Head Teacher and Director concerning children with special needs.
Writes six-week and twice-yearly cumulative reports.
Fosters positive parent relationships through respecting the confidential nature of all information about parents and children.
Uses Contact Notes for staff and parent concerns.
Assumes responsibility for discussing his/her professional performance objectively at regularly scheduled supervisor conferences with the Assistant Director or Director.
Attends required trainings and workshops.
