About The Position

This position is for a Substitute Teacher responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment, implementing lessons in the absence of the regular instructor, and ensuring District policies are observed. The role requires creating a safe and conducive classroom environment, supervising students at all times, and being familiar with emergency procedures. The substitute teacher will review notes, take attendance, follow lesson plans, and maintain confidentiality as per FERPA. Adaptability, good judgment, and appropriate behavior are essential. The role requires reporting 30 minutes early and staying for the entire assignment, including the teacher's planning time.

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
  • Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular Instructor.
  • Ensure that District policies are observed during all activities.
  • Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times.
  • Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures.
  • Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances.
  • Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.
  • Report for duty 30 minutes early and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Leave detailed notes for the teacher on any issues experienced during the day.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or the Substitute Coordinator

Benefits

  • Monday & Friday rate = $250
  • Tuesday-Thursday rate = $225
  • Bonus: after 30 full time days (225 hours) = $500
  • each 15 full time days after (112.50 hours) = $250
