About The Position

St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School seeks substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence. The Substitute Teacher follows the plans, guides, provided by classroom teacher. This position reports to the principal.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• None required (for substitute teacher with less than 50% responsibility in a grading period).
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
• Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
• Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
• Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation
• Able to work well with others in the school community
• Ability to manage student behavior in classroom setting.
• Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Skill in job appropriate technology
• Skill in managing conflicts effectively
• Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities
• All employees must adhere to the Catholic Schools Standards of Conduct, the Diocese of Austin EIM policies, and the social, ethical, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church as interpreted by the Bishop of Austin.

Nice To Haves

• A substitute teacher who will have responsibility for a class for 50% or more of the grading period should have the same qualifications required for the regular teacher.

• Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
• Follow instruction set by classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
• Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.
