About The Position

Rise Academy is seeking dependable, caring, and flexible Substitute Teachers to support our students and instructional staff throughout the school year. As a Christian high school serving students in Richmond's East End, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with young people and helping maintain a positive, structured learning environment when classroom teachers are absent. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for supervising students, implementing lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, maintaining classroom order, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Substitute Teachers may be assigned to various subject areas and grade levels within the school.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 25 years of age
• Ability to effectively supervise and engage high school students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
• Ability to adapt to different classroom settings and instructional needs
• Commitment to maintaining a positive and professional learning environment

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or higher
• Previous experience working with youth, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, or education
• Experience in a school, church, nonprofit, or community-based setting
• Familiarity with classroom management practices

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials left by the classroom teacher
• Supervise students and maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment
• Take attendance and complete any required documentation
• Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures
• Provide support and assistance to students during class activities
• Communicate important classroom information to the regular teacher upon their return
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and emergency protocols
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
