About The Position

Substitute Teachers work on an as-needed basis to provide instructional support in the absence of a regular classroom teacher. There are no guaranteed hours or set schedules. Substitute Teachers implement lesson plans, support student learning, and maintain a safe, positive learning environment for students who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Visually Impaired. Assignments may vary in length and location based on the operational needs of CSDB.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience working with children or youth is required
Advanced proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required for assignments serving students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
A current, valid Colorado Educator License or Colorado Substitute Authorization is required prior to employment
Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a collaborative team environment
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to quickly adapt to new classroom environments and effectively implement lesson plans
Knowledge of and ability to utilize instructional strategies and technologies appropriate to assigned students, including students who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Visually Impaired, as applicable
Ability to receive feedback, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professionalism in a variety of educational settings
Verification of education, licensure, and applicable work experience is required
Direct deposit is required
Successful candidates must comply with all applicable Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) and State of Colorado policies, including the Drug-Free Workplace Policy
Employment is contingent upon verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States in accordance with federal law
Successful candidates must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, which may include criminal history checks, employment verification, licensure verification, and professional reference checks
