About The Position

St. John Paul II Academy - High School in Corpus Christi is seeking exceptional individuals for the position of Substitute Teacher for grades 9-12. The mission of St. John Paul II Academy - High School is to prepare students for this life and the next. This is a part-time position. This position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be of the Christian faith
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Submit to employment required screenings, criminal history background check, drug screening, and MVR
  • Obtain certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
  • Position requires adherence to diocesan policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Provide instructional support and classroom management for students in the absence of the teacher of record
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters of the assigned department and the diocese
  • Serves as a representative of the diocese, displaying courtesy, tact, positivity, and discretion in all interactions with colleagues and the community served
  • Carries out commitments made to diocesan colleagues and the community served
  • Employs professional ethics in relationships with diocesan colleagues and the community served
  • Positively contributes to the overall mission and values of the Diocese of Corpus Christi to promote a positive organizational culture
