Substitute Teacher - Anderson Academy Charter School Location: Winston-Salem, NC, on-site Schedule: PRN (as needed), On-call basis during the school year, Monday through Friday (length and timing of assignments vary) Your Impact: As a Substitute School Teacher at Anderson Academy, you’ll do more than just “fill in”—you’ll help shape meaningful days of learning for students who count on consistency and care. Nice To Haves

  • NC DPI Teaching license and/or a teaching license awarded by a reciprocal state.
  • Prior teaching experience in a public, private, or charter school setting.
  • Experience working with diverse populations or students with special educational needs.
  • Experience developing curriculum, implementing innovative teaching methods, and adapting to flexible educational settings.
  • A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Follow lesson plans left by the regular teacher and deliver content clearly and engagingly.
  • Create a respectful and inclusive classroom culture that supports social and emotional learning.
  • Communicate with students, parents (as needed), and staff to support student achievement.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and ensure safety while encouraging student participation.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as attendance and classroom notes.
  • Leave detailed feedback and ensure the room is tidy for the returning teacher.
  • Collaborate with staff and jump into support roles as needed (hall duty, activities, etc.).
  • Uphold all school policies, equity principles, and trauma-informed practices.
