About The Position

Providence Private Academy is seeking qualified and dependable Part-Time Substitute Teachers to support their instructional program on an as-needed basis. The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for delivering lesson plans, maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment, and ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to the educational and developmental needs of students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Education or related field preferred)
• Prior teaching or classroom experience
• Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to various classroom environments
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Professionalism, reliability, and punctuality
• Commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive school environment
• Valid teaching certification (state or private school certification preferred)
• Experience in independent or private school settings
• Familiarity with age-appropriate teaching methods and student needs
• Flexibility to work across grade levels (e.g., K–5, 6–8, or 9–12)

Responsibilities

• Deliver prepared lesson plans and instruction provided by the absent teacher
• Maintain classroom routines, expectations, and management strategies
• Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
• Take attendance and submit required reports
• Leave written communication for the returning teacher summarizing the day
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunch areas, and/or recess as assigned
• Communicate any behavioral, academic, or safety concerns to school administrators
