About The Position

Currey Ingram Academy is seeking qualified and dedicated Substitute Teachers to support students in grades JK–12. Substitute Teachers play an important role in maintaining a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment while ensuring continuity of instruction during a teacher’s absence. As valued members of our school community, substitute teachers are expected to uphold the mission and values of Currey Ingram Academy through their professionalism, conduct, and interactions with students, faculty, and families. Currey Ingram Academy is a co-ed, college-preparatory day and boarding school (JK-12 for day; 9-12 for boarding) located in beautiful Brentwood, TN. We specialize in empowering students with learning differences to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. At Currey Ingram, teaching is personalized, class sizes are small, and professional collaboration is a core value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ability to navigate classroom technology, with guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
  • A degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with learning differences.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse learners.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and support the mission, values, and educational philosophy of Currey Ingram Academy through daily interactions and professional conduct.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment that promotes student learning and engagement.
  • Implement lesson plans and classroom procedures provided by the regular classroom teacher.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and respect.
  • Exercise sound judgment, behave ethically, and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators to support student success.
  • Enforce school policies and classroom expectations fairly and consistently.
  • Report to campus and be prepared to begin duties by 7:30 a.m. and remain through requested hours.
  • Be responsive to requests and available based on the employee's provided schedule of availability.
