About The Position

All candidates who wish to be considered for substitute services must complete and submit the online employment application. Substitute placement is an on-call, as needed basis as directed by the daily needs of Aberdeen School District. There is no guarantee of placement on any given day and no ongoing expectation of placement. Comprehensive Benefit information can be found here . Position Summary : The purpose of a substitute teacher is provide classroom instruction as directed by building administration during the absence of the regularly assigned and contracted classroom teacher. The substitute teacher is required to follow any lesson plans or other directives provided by the regular classroom teacher or designated building administrator.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or enrolled in a College program
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate or Emergency Certificate as approved by Aberdeen School District
Pass a WSP/FBI fingerprint criminal background clearance (applicant’s expense)

Nice To Haves

Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred

Responsibilities

Provide classroom instruction and student supervision as directed.
Familiar with technology
Ability to interact with students in a positive and supportive manner.
Work cooperatively with building staff, students, and parents/guardians.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to use a computer and apply technology skills.
Ability to follow directions, lesson plans, and perform duties and tasks as assigned.
Ability to organize time and maintain a schedule.
Comply with all district policies, building procedures and schedules.
Possess a positive attitude that each student can learn and has the right and capacity to achieve personal academic excellence.
Perform other duties as assigned by building administrator.
