About The Position

All candidates who wish to be considered for substitute services must complete and submit the online employment application. Substitute placement is an on-call, as needed basis as directed by the daily needs of Aberdeen School District. There is no guarantee of placement on any given day and no ongoing expectation of placement. Comprehensive Benefit information can be found here . Position Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the building principal or the classroom teacher, this position may provide assistance to students and/or staff. A substitute paraeducator may also perform a variety of office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff. The position is expected to promote positive public relations for the district.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and AA degree, or 72 college credits, or pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (administered by the Aberdeen School District).
Ability to pass a WSP/FBI fingerprint criminal background clearance (applicant's expense)

Responsibilities

Provide assistance to the teacher in the classroom as directed.
May include hallway, lunchroom and playground supervision.
Ability to relate and work with children.
Work cooperatively with building staff, students, and parents/guardians.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to use a computer and apply technology skills.
Ability to follow directions, and perform duties and tasks as assigned.
May be required to assist with toileting and diapering.
Ability to lift and support students.
Ability to organize time and maintain a schedule.
Comply with all district policies, building procedures and schedules.
Possess a positive attitude that each student can learn and has the right and capacity to achieve personal academic excellence.
Perform other duties as assigned by building administrator.
