About The Position
Effective August 1, 2026, Dawson School—a K-12 independent school located just east of Boulder—is seeking qualified Substitute Teachers for the 2026–27 academic year. Substitute Teachers at Dawson play a vital role in supporting student learning by stepping in for regular classroom teachers on a short-term basis. In most cases, substitutes will follow the established lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher to ensure continuity in instruction. Requirements
- High School diploma
- A current resume, references, and a cover letter that specifically tells us how your background and experience align with the requirements, qualifications, and responsibilities of the position
- Strong classroom management skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters

Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans and instructions designed by the absent teacher
- Supervise school or student activities
- Enforce school and class rules to maintain order in the classroom
- Operate equipment such as computers or audiovisual aids to supplement presentations
- Additional duties as deemed necessary by the School
