This position assists the Teacher and Master Teacher with assuming responsibility for general supervision, development, and education of children within their assigned classroom. Key responsibilities include planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities, fostering a respectful environment for each child, and interacting positively to support their learning and social-emotional development. The assistant guides children's behaviors, helps them develop problem-solving skills, and models pro-social behaviors. Direct support, engagement, and extension of play and learning experiences are provided, along with maintaining positive relationships with parents/caregivers. The role involves assisting with DRDP and Portfolio maintenance, implementing individual goals, replenishing materials, and preparing healthy snacks. Compliance with NAEYC standards, Title 5, State Department of Education, Child Development Division Funding Terms and Conditions, and Title 22 Community Care Licensing regulations is essential. The assistant must maintain confidentiality and provide support to the Teacher, Master Teacher, and Site Supervisor/Regional Director. Health and safety duties include reporting hazards, ensuring children observe rules, keeping spaces clean, following food handling and hygiene standards, and monitoring children for signs of illness.
