About The Position

This role involves assisting students with behavioral and management needs, supporting physical care tasks and health-related activities, reinforcing learning materials, and supervising students during various school activities. The position requires building good relationships with students and staff, maintaining order, and demonstrating resourcefulness and dependability.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
• Additional experience and knowledge in a particular field where specialized duties are involved; OR Have served in a community service organization, church or education/recreation organization for a minimum of one (1) year; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Ability to establish good relationships with students, teachers and others.
• Ability to gain and hold the confidence of and to maintain a patient and understanding attitude towards school children.
• Ability to maintain order in classrooms and to enforce school regulations with firmness.
• Familiarity with classroom routine.
• Good background or knowledge in specific field where specialized duties are involved.
• Resourcefulness in conducting above described activities indirectly related to teaching process.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain discipline.
• Dependability.
• Neat personal appearance, tactful, courteous and good judgment.
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist student with behavioral/management needs.
• Assist in physical care tasks and health-related activities, including feeding and toileting.
• Work with student to reinforce the learning of materials and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Supervise/assist student during specials, lunch, arrival and dismissal.
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or supervising teacher.
