About The Position

Charleston Collegiate School seeks an innovative and passionate LTS Spanish Teacher to inspire and guide students in grades 6 through 12 in developing language proficiency and cultural understanding. This position requires a dedicated educator with strong content knowledge, a commitment to project-based learning, and the ability to foster critical thinking, collaboration, and curiosity in students.

Requirements

  • College Degree (minimum Bachelors)
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite
  • Efficient typing, email, database, spreadsheet, and internet skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and get along with co-workers and management
  • Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solve, and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to present a professional image as a representative of the School
  • Current in First-aid training or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons, focusing on the integration of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Scaffold instruction to support individual student needs, using formative and summative assessments to inform teaching practices and track progress.
  • Plan immersive cultural experiences such as celebrations, guest speakers, or interactive projects to deepen students' understanding of Spanish-speaking communities worldwide.
  • Foster cross-curricular connections by collaborating with colleagues in other disciplines to design interdisciplinary projects that integrate the Spanish language and culture.
  • Incorporate Charleston Collegiate School’s pillars of project-based learning to connect language study with real-world applications and cultural exploration.
  • Use creative methods and the school’s outdoor campus to provide experiential learning opportunities that engage students in meaningful practice of language skills.
  • Provide consistent opportunities for students to engage in authentic language use, including dialogues, presentations, and written reflections.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding student progress, class objectives, and opportunities for additional support or enrichment.
  • Exhibit a positive mindset, flexibility, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Actively participate in student-life activities, including advisory programs, leading clubs, coaching, or organizing after-school initiatives to foster a vibrant community.
  • Stay current on best practices in world language education and adolescent development, participating in professional development opportunities to enhance instruction.
  • Collaborate with students and colleagues to create an inclusive classroom environment that aligns with the school’s values of empathy, integrity, optimism, community, and advocacy.
