About The Position

Independent Nursing Care (INC) is seeking Substitute School Nurses to provide essential health services and support to students in local schools on an as-needed basis. This role involves administering medications, responding to student health concerns, managing chronic conditions, and ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The ideal candidate is a skilled, compassionate nurse with strong assessment and communication abilities, comfortable working independently in a school setting.

Requirements

• Active RN or LPN license in NYS
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and policies.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.

Nice To Haves

• School nursing experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to students, including medication administration and first aid.
• Respond to illnesses, injuries, and emergencies within the school setting.
• Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
• Maintain accurate health records and document care in compliance with school policies.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs.
• Promote a safe and healthy school environment through education and preventive care.
