About The Position

The Devonshire Preschool Program is seeking to hire a substitute preschool teacher. The Substitute Preschool Teacher shall assist the regular preschool staff with daily classroom tasks and routines. Under the direction of the Preschool Director and other preschool staff, participates in implementing appropriate activities promoting the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of children enrolled in the preschool program aged 2 to 5 years of age. Supervises children closely to ensure their health and safety. Establishes a nurturing relationship with the children and their families. Serves as an appropriate role model to the students. Assists in maintaining necessary records and reports pertaining to those children enrolled in the preschool program as required by DCFS. Assists the staff in maintaining an organized and neat classroom. Sanitizes tables, toys and equipment. May be required to supervise the preschool children that are enrolled in the full-day program at lunch time. As requested, attends meetings, training sessions and other programs and events that take place outside of the normally scheduled hours.

Requirements

  • Mature, energetic, responsible adult at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, communication and leadership skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must be able to meet DCFS licensing standards for childcare workers.
  • Must have a current medical examination, TB test and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with preschool aged children.
  • CDA or 60 semester credits with 6 early childhood credits (for Lead Teachers, but may be preferred for substitutes).
