Delivers a balanced program of instruction to a class when the assigned instructor is unavailable. This role involves instructing students, implementing and modifying lesson plans, maintaining accurate records, and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse student needs, including those with IEPs. The Substitute Preschool Teacher works collaboratively with classroom assistants and support staff, implements behavioral protocols, and monitors student behavior, performance, and development. Maintaining positive communication with parents, guardians, administration, and colleagues is essential. The position requires close supervision of students in all settings, including the playground. Depending on the classroom, responsibilities may include assigning and grading work, administering tests, complying with policies for physical intervention in emergencies, demonstrating a commitment to behavioral approaches for student motivation, incorporating social skills instruction, and assisting children with self-help skills such as dressing, diapering, toileting, and eating.
