Substitute Paraeducators support students and teachers in both general and special education settings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to meet Washington State paraeducator requirements
- Pass required background checks
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with children or students with disabilities is helpful, but training may be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assisting students with classroom activities and assignments
- Providing one-on-one or small-group support as directed by the teacher
- Supporting positive behavior and social-emotional needs
- Supervising students during lunch, recess, passing times, and other activities
- Assisting students with personal care needs when trained and appropriate
- Helping maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming learning environment
- Working with teachers and staff to meet individual student needs
