About The Position

Horizons K-8 School in south Boulder is seeking substitute paraeducators to support students in regular and special education classrooms. The school serves approximately 375 students and emphasizes inclusion, collaborative learning, student choice, community building, and a respectful, safe environment. Its mission is to help K-8 students become self-directed learners in a supportive, collaborative setting rooted in critical thinking, justice, and choice.

This is an as-needed position paid hourly. Paraeducator substitutes provide behavioral, academic, health, and other support to students, including students with disabilities. The school is committed to building a diverse faculty and staff and encourages applications from underrepresented groups.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Complete the Colorado Department of Human Services criminal background screening and CBI fingerprinting.
• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Complete and submit the Horizons K-8 online application.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to students as needed.
• Perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Carefully and effectively supervise students.
• Carry out instructional and behavioral objectives for individual students or small groups of students with disabilities.
• Use positive reinforcement strategies to maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain a clean and safe physical environment.
