About The Position

As a Substitute Para Educator, this person will provide instructional support and assistance within the classroom setting. They may provide physical and instructional support and assistance, as needed, outside the classroom for students who have moderate, severe, and multiple disabilities. This role works under the direction of a licensed staff member and is responsible for developing and promoting good community relations among various community and school clientele.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work one-on-one or in small groups with students
General office equipment

Nice To Haves

CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

Provides individual and small group instruction of students in general educational classrooms, ILC center based classrooms and work/job training settings.
Works one-on-one with students in tutoring and skill building, as well as role-modeling.
Utilizes teacher-produced lesson plans to assist in teaching process towards each student’s individual education plan.
Provides technical physical care for students, which may include toileting, grooming, cleaning ventilation devices, feeding, care of G-tubes, positioning, improving range of motion, and administering medications.
May be asked to maintain daily records of student progress/behavior.
Uses instructional equipment including computers, audio visual, adaptive equipment, tape recorders, film projectors and other school equipment.
Maintains clean and hygienic work environment where appropriate.
Maintains confidentiality of students’ information and records.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
