About The Position
Under the general supervision of a classroom teacher, assists in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students at an assigned elementary school site; prepares instructional materials and performs a variety of clerical duties as assigned. Often required to support more than one teacher and classroom.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Minimum of 48 college units or AA degree OR passage of the District’s proficiency test in reading, writing and math.
- Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading.
- Usage of correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
- Able to perform routine clerical and record keeping tasks.
- Able to operate a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment.
- Reading and writing communication skills.
- Able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups and ethnic background.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.
