About The Position

The Substitute Part-Time Group Exercise Instructor leads safe, engaging, and effective fitness classes for members at the Wellington Athletic Club in Flower Mound, TX, an offsite location managed by Cooper Aerobics. The primary need is for a substitute Boot Camp instructor; however, candidates who can teach a variety of formats (including strength training, cardio, Pilates, dance, and other trending fitness classes) are strongly preferred. This role requires the ability to adapt to member interests and club needs while creating a positive, motivating, and inclusive group fitness experience while representing the standards and culture of Cooper Aerobics.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Possesses basic computer and technical skills.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least six months teaching in a group exercise format.
  • Professional group fitness certification (ACSM, ACE, Cooper, NASM, or similar).
  • CPR certification required (on-campus certification may be available but must be complete within the first month of employment).

Responsibilities

  • Provides exemplary customer service to members, guests, vendors, and fellow teammates.
  • Instructs with a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and capabilities.
  • Plans various engaging routines, music and movements depending upon type of class to educate and motivate participants.
  • Leads assigned classes on time and takes ownership for covering classes with an appropriate substitute when absent.
  • Motivates members to continue to consistently attend group fitness classes.
  • Prepares fitness space for the class and restores space to its original state after teaching.
  • Cleans and organizes studio after each group fitness class.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.
  • Follows all Cooper policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Completes duties on-site with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.
  • Accomplishes other duties as assigned.
