About The Position

Arlington Public Schools seeks a 1.0 FTE teacher of French at Gibbs School (Grade 6) for a long term substitute position, starting immediately through the end of the school year. Requirements

  • Advanced oral proficiency in French.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of research-based effective world language pedagogy including the ACTFL World-Readiness for Language Learning Standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate use of a variety of materials and modes of instruction.
  • Adept with technology.
  • Effective techniques for classroom management.
  • Ability to develop relationships with students.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues and community members.
  • Awareness of the role that bias and prejudice play in society.
  • Creativity and willingness to try new approaches.
  • Reflective about daily practice.

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE teaching licensure, Foreign Language [Spanish], Grades 5-12.
