About The Position

The Louisville Rec Center is currently looking for experienced and energetic Substitute Fitness Instructors! This position is under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent and will perform duties related to instructing and leading individuals in fitness and recreational activities. The goal of the Fitness Instructor is to affect positive change in people's lifestyles through exercise and wellness education.

Requirements

  • Previous experience instructing group exercise and fitness/wellness programs in a recreational facility setting.
  • Must hold current fitness and CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain in first 60 days.
  • Group Fitness certification (AFAA, NETA, ACE, or equivalent) required.
  • Must have current national fitness certification(s), such as AFFA, NETA, ACE or equivalent group exercise certification.
  • Must possess current CPR/AED and 1st Aid certification or be willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develops class content appropriate to the course description and level.
  • Provides appropriate warm-up and cool down.
  • Instructs participants in proper fitness exercise techniques.
  • Monitors participants and their ability to ensure proper use of equipment and technique.
  • Provides proper instruction for various muscle groups including mat work or dry-land training.
  • Provides a safe class environment.
  • Provides positive feedback to class participants.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Participate in related activities within the department.
  • Complete and turn in time sheets on time and communicate effectively with supervisor, class participants, fellow employees, etc.
