About The Position

This is a part-time Substitute Cook position within the K-12 Districtwide. The role involves assisting in food preparation, serving, dishwashing, and general kitchen cleaning. The position is on an as-needed basis with no guarantee on hours or days. The work schedule is typically Monday-Friday, excluding school holidays, with approximately 5 hours per day, usually between 8 am and 2 pm.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
• Manual dexterity is desirable.
• Ability to work under pressure is desirable.
• Ability to lift objects of 25 pounds, unassisted.
• Must be neat in appearance, clean, and have good personal hygiene habits.
• Must wear appropriate clothing, hairnet, and comfortable appropriate shoes.
• Much standing on feet required.
• A health certificate is required stating healthy status and TB test or chest x-ray.
• Must pass a criminal background check before first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of lunch (e.g., potato products, salad, vegetables, fruits).
• Help set up the choice line.
• May help serve, act as a runner.
• Perform duties in the dishwashing area, including pot and pan washing and dishmachine duties.
• Help with general put away of food.
• Assist with cleaning of the kitchen.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
