Requirements

  • Experience (3-5 years) working in or preferably testing substation equipment.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, IEEE, NETA, etc.).
  • Understanding of applicable testing for equipment types noted above.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, SEL, TapTalk, Doble, RTS, Adobe and others as needed.
  • Minimum Associate's degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering preferred or equivalent experience in industry (5+ years).
  • Travel: 75% average.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Work in challenging ambient conditions including outdoors, hot and cold temperatures and loud noises.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in elevated positions.
  • May be exposed to energized equipment.
  • OSHA 10 hour.
  • NFPA 70E Training.
  • FA/CPR Training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional, relay and SCADA testing in utility level substations.
  • Equipment acceptance testing.
  • Relay and protection scheme testing.
  • SCADA system testing.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving issues as they arise.
  • Equipment inspections at vendors facilities.
  • Push issues to resolution.
  • Perform switching and grounding in energized substations.
