Due to continued growth, our Power Delivery group is seeking a Substation Designer – Protection & Controls in one of the following office locations: Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Orlando, FL, Tampa, FL, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Overland Park, KS, Kennesaw, GA, or Remote.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Substation designing, with a primary focus on executing protection and control projects
  • Familiarity with relay protection schemes
  • Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
  • Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment
  • 500kV substation design experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop electric substation drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and control building layouts.
  • Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as voltage drop and conduit fill.
  • Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
  • Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required.
