About The Position

With over 70 years of operating experience, Primoris Power Delivery services include engineering and design, installation and maintenance, material and equipment procurement, repair of electrical transmission, distribution, substation, wireless communication, and storm restoration. Our experience ranges from small engineering and consulting projects to multi-million dollar turn-key distribution, substation, and transmission line programs. We are currently looking for a Substation Project Engineer to join the Lewisville, TX team!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and construction
  • Working knowledge of scheduling software and spreadsheet programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable engineering codes.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors; work collaboratively.
  • Plan, organize, and implement projects with successful, timely results; mentor and direct team members.
  • Efficient use of software, materials, and equipment to minimize costs; dedication to on-schedule completion; efficient time management; willingness to work unusual/extended hours as needed to support field construction
  • Close focus on details; consistency, accuracy, and thoroughness. Perform QAQC for design packages
  • Open to change; receptive to new ideas and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Apply sound knowledge of utility substation designs and standards.
  • Provide electrical design for projects like relay upgrades, breaker additions/upgrades, transformer replacements, RTU installations, and new substations.
  • Provide physical design for projects like bus additions, new equipment installations, and new substations.
  • Develop scope definitions, estimates, and schedules; collaborate with Project Managers to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Develop specifications and material lists.
  • Manage preparation of review sets and final construction sets.
  • Oversee as-built revisions.
  • Interact with clients, utility personnel, manufacturers’ representatives, and others as needed.
  • Keep up with developments in electric utility substation design & construction; suggest improvements.
  • Act as Lead Engineer on assigned projects.
  • Conduct documentation and inspections at job sites as required.
  • Train Design Engineers, Designers, and Electrical CAD Technicians.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Electrical Engineering or a Senior Protection & Control Engineer.
