About The Position

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team. This role involves the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization. The Project Engineer will also be responsible for developing and delivering physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications. This position assists the Project Manager in planning and executing projects, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, training and mentoring design staff, ensuring project quality, and overseeing design personnel. The role requires coordination with various ECI discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection, Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right-of-Way, and Project Management/Controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • 6+ years' project and design engineering experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
  • Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles
  • Expertise regarding applicable codes, standards and design tools
  • Basic project management execution skills
  • Ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team
  • Must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • PE license is preferred
  • Experience in utility or merchant power industry a plus
