As a Substation Physical Project Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design. Responsibilities will include the preparation and detailed review of various substation drawings, performing technical review of project team's comments on vendor design deliverables, coordinating the incorporation of those comments, and consolidating and resolving project team comments. You will also act as the lead while conducting field walkdowns and gathering data at client facilities, interfacing with clients and contractors to discuss walkdown issues, and performing constructability walkdowns. Additionally, you will identify applicable codes and standards for team use, provide guidance in applying them, and participate actively in the company's quality system. You will maintain and utilize working knowledge of design standards and practices, ensure designs conform to codes and standards, and apply client-specific standards. You will provide guidance and mentoring to designers, drafters, and other project stakeholders, review and supervise the production of design deliverables, and provide technical guidance in the preparation and review of calculations. Developing cost-effective design approaches, interfacing with other disciplines, obtaining required input for calculations, and implementing work plan requirements within budget and schedule are also key aspects of this role. You will provide guidance to the project team in attaining budget and schedule, delegate and monitor the work of assigned staff, and oversee routine, day-to-day performance and personnel issues for the assigned group.
