As a Substation Physical Project Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design. Responsibilities will include the preparation and detailed review of various substation drawings, including general arrangement, electrical equipment plans, section views, bill of material, lightning stroke shielding plan, grounding plan, conduit/raceway plans, and control building details. Other responsibilities include performing technical reviews of vendor deliverables, acting as lead for field walkdowns, gathering data at client facilities, interfacing with clients and contractors, identifying applicable codes and standards, participating in the company's quality system, maintaining working knowledge of design standards, ensuring designs conform to codes and standards, applying client standards, providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff, reviewing and supervising design deliverables, providing technical guidance for calculations, developing cost-effective design approaches, interfacing with other disciplines, obtaining and reviewing input for calculations, implementing work plan requirements within budget and schedule, delegating and monitoring the work of assigned staff, providing performance feedback, and overseeing routine performance and personnel issues for the assigned group.
