About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days a week in the office and two days remote. The position provides an opportunity to utilize and expand drafting skills within a multi-disciplined team environment, preparing design drawings based on input from designers and engineers. You will apply computer-aided drafting skills and receive hands-on training in 3D design software such as AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation, as well as Sargent & Lundy’s proprietary design databases. Responsibilities include creating master sketches showing the relation of proposed installations to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions. You may also accompany experienced designers on walkdowns at client facilities to gather information and explain drawings to vendors and construction contractors to facilitate design adjustments.

Requirements

  • An Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
  • Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances.
  • Ability to multi-task from project to project.
  • Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design.
  • Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.

Responsibilities
