Substation P&C Designer
About The Position
Leidos Engineering is seeking a skilled Substation P&C Designer in the Atlanta area to create substation design drawing packages and necessary documents for electric power substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV. The role involves utilizing accepted practices and standards to ensure high quality and safety in designs. This position is open to candidates with varying years of experience, with compensation matched accordingly. Requirements
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- High School degree required
- 2+ years of direct substation Protection & Controls / Electrical design experience using CAD software on electric utility industry projects
- Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs
- Ability to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and work product quality
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred
- Expertise with AutoCAD Electrical w/Substation Design Suite (SDS)
- Experience working on EPC or other design-build Contract types
- Proficiency with MicroStation
Responsibilities
- Develop new, or modify existing: Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Schematics / Elementaries, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Layout Drawings
- Complete battery loading and voltage drop studies
- Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials
- Review and comment on equipment drawings received from vendors and manufacturers
- Work with other disciplines (e.g., Substation Physical Design) as necessary to complete assigned work
- Assist the project team with developing processes and procedures to increase team efficiency
- Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design
- Apply relevant client, national, and state standards to each assignment as needed
