About The Position

CDE Lightband, the municipal power provider for the City of Clarksville, is seeking a high-caliber Substation Maintenance Electrician to join their Operations team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability of Clarksville's electrical infrastructure, especially during a period of historic growth. The position involves the testing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of high-voltage transformers, circuit breakers, and relay protection systems. The ideal candidate is safety-focused and possesses technical precision.

Requirements

• High School Degree or Equivalent
• Three years of related work experience
• Class D Driver's License
• CPR/AED or ability to obtain upon hire
• Knowledgeable of the basics of substation maintenance, installation, and testing practices and procedures
• Knowledgeable of Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations
• Knowledgeable of record-keeping principles
• Skilled in Basic Computer and related software applications
• Skilled in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining substation
• Skilled in utilizing the applicable equipment needed to maintain substations
• Skilled at reading a Wire Table to determine conductor size required
• Skilled at terminating aluminum or copper cable
• Skilled at terminating high-voltage cable
• Skilled at splicing high-voltage cable
• Ability to work independently and individually, and to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
• Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task

Responsibilities

• Tests, builds, repairs, and maintains substations and substation equipment, including repairing and replacing parts and systems, constructing substations, and modifying systems as necessary.
• Installs and tests transmission, distribution, telecommunications, and data equipment, including electronic repair.
• Monitors compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and safety.
• Prepares a variety of operational records and logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned, of a similar nature, or to provide assistance as needed.
