As a summer intern, you will be the vital link between the company and widespread interconnection of generation, increase in capacity demand (residential, commercial and industrial) and system reliability improvements in California. Your role will be to work alongside experienced engineers to ensure that the company provides excellent service for these projects. Support other team members in Transmission and Distribution Substation designs using Substation software for indoor equipment (SCADA, relays, meters, batteries, annunciators, metal clad switchgear, etc.) and outdoor equipment (open air bus structures, support structures, circuit breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, etc.). Work with and learn from other departments involved in Substations such as Maintenance, Construction, Asset Strategy, Distribution Planning, Standards, Protection, Automation, etc. Support other team members in creating/updating drawings like single line diagrams, AC & DC schematics, indoor& outdoor arrangements, control room layouts, station service, circuit & conduit schedules. This position is hybrid with the expectation of working in PG&E’s General Office in downtown Oakland, CA approximately 2 days per week. The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced engineers. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Substation Engineering organization through the work they will be performing.
