About The Position

This role involves leading and supporting high-voltage substation projects up to 765kV, encompassing both physical and protection & controls design. The work will focus on advanced power infrastructure, including substation design, renewables integration, HVDC, BESS, and other critical grid modernization projects. The position offers an opportunity to shape major infrastructure within an employee-owned firm.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in high-voltage substation design (physical and/or protection & controls)
  • Background as a project lead or technical specialist on substation programs
  • Strong QA/QC discipline and proven client coordination skills
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead substation projects from concept through construction, covering physical design, protection & controls, and system integration.
  • Develop drawings, schematics, station layouts, relay panel wiring, grounding systems, and auxiliary power designs.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages and ensure deliverables meet technical and client standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee project team output.
  • Coordinate directly with clients, vendors, and internal project teams to maintain technical excellence across every phase.
  • Prepare budgets, schedules, and procurement specifications for substation construction.
  • Support business development efforts and present proposals and designs to prospective clients.
