Senior-Principal Substation Physical Engineer

Due to continued growth, our Power Delivery group is seeking a Substation Engineer – Physical Design in one of the following office locations: Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Orlando, FL, Tampa, FL, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Overland Park, KS, Kennesaw, GA, or Remote.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Substation engineering, with a primary focus on executing substation physical design projects.
- Familiarity with substation physical design parameters and associated information needed to complete design.
- Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE.
- Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment.
- 500kV substation engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, with active NCEES record for reciprocity.
- Field testing/commissioning experience.
- AutoCAD Electrical design experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts.
- Work closely with the Civil Engineering department to develop substation foundation and structure detail drawings.
- Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
- Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes.
- Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
- Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required.
