About The Position

LCRA is looking for a Substation Electrician to join their team. In this role, the candidate will install, maintain, and repair electric motors and equipment on crucial infrastructure in Central Texas. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and an excellent teammate. They will work on complex projects across the service area, including at the service center and substations. Requirements

  • One or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and/or other types of electrical equipment, including experience reading blueprints.
  • Class A Texas commercial driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and repair failures in electrical and electronic circuits and equipment.
  • Install test apparatus on all electrical equipment and implement solutions to electrical and electronic control system problems.
  • Install and maintain lighting and equipment at power plants, communications facilities, substations, pump houses, and dams.
  • Read, interpret and update blueprints and drawings, consult manuals and parts lists to assist in performing work.
  • Diagnostic testing of line equipment, circuit breakers, and transformers.
