About The Position

This job posting is for expressing interest in future opportunities within AtkinsRéalis' Transmission, Distribution and Renewables division. AtkinsRéalis has an exciting full-time career opportunity for an experienced Substation Electrical Designer. The specialist is required to work within a multi-discipline team to design and engineer efficient and reliable Electrical substation and distribution networks.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized Institution
  • minimum of 6-8 years of experience as Designer in the field of Transmission and Distribution Substations.
  • Experience in Hydro One and Toronto Hydro CADD Standards is a must
  • working knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise and Electronic Document Management Systems are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Autodesk REVIT experience is an asset.
  • Experience in Client interaction and participating in technical discussions is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop Electrical Substation facilities (High Voltage and Medium Voltage levels) including site and bus work layouts, ground grid drawings, lightning protection, cable routing conduits/trench plan, plot plans and elevation drawings for outdoor substation equipment.
  • Assist Design engineers in developing Switchgear room and Control room layout drawings for substation projects.
  • Assist Design Engineers in the preparation of Power Single Line Diagram, Relay and Metering One-line diagram and Communication architectural block diagram, AC three-line diagram, Elementary Schematics and Wiring diagrams.
  • Assist Design Engineers in the preparation of Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.
  • Perform peer reviews of the drawings prepared by other designers & drafters in the team to ensure compliance with the utility of CADD Standards.
  • Work closely with peers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility Standards, industry standards and meet good engineering practices, policies and procedures and maintain complete project documentation with respect to all design packages.
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support the project.
