Auriga Corporation currently has following vacancies in the Milpitas, California Office: Substation Design Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in substation design engineering.
  • Current California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, control panels, and related equipment.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, or similar.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience working with California electric utilities, including PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, or municipal utilities.
  • Experience with substation automation and SCADA integration.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred; California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate high-voltage substation design activities, including physical layout, protection and control systems, grounding, and conduit design.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings such as single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment layouts, and bill of materials.
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to support the timely and accurate delivery of project deliverables.
  • Participate in technical reviews and QA/QC of engineering drawings and documents.
  • Develop designs in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including IEEE, NESC, NEC, and utility/client specifications.
  • Prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, and technical studies.
  • Perform design and engineering activities for high-voltage substation projects ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams and senior engineering staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.
  • Assist with business development and proposal efforts by providing technical input and supporting the development of design-hour estimates.
