Substation Design Engineer
About The Position
Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is seeking a Design Engineer in Mankato, MN, to be responsible for the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations. This includes material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization. The role involves developing and delivering physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications. Under the guidance of a Project Engineer, Design Engineers will assist in project execution, including coordination, quality control, and oversight of designers, drafters, and support staff. Collaboration with ECI's subject matter expert discipline groups (e.g., Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection, Civil Engineering, Communication, and Transmission & Distribution Engineering) is also a key aspect of the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
- Fundamental knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.
- Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
- Subject to client-mandated drug and background checking.
- Subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements due to occasional travel/driving.
Nice To Haves
- Design engineering experience is a plus.
- Commitment to progress towards PE licensure is encouraged.
